A 12-panel AIKO in-roof solar installation paired with Tesla Powerwall 3, bringing solar generation and battery storage together at a property in the North West.
The project
Generation and storage, designed to work together.
Eco Providers installed 12 AIKO panels using an in-roof arrangement, with Tesla Powerwall 3 battery storage and a 5 kW inverter.
The compact array is set into the slate roof, with six panels across each of two rows. The dark panels create a clearly defined rectangle within the surrounding roof finish.
Pairing solar with a battery allows surplus generation to be stored for use later, helping the property make more use of the electricity it produces.
The roof integration
A neat array within the roofline.
In-roof solar panels sit within the roof covering. Here, the array is framed by slate on all four sides, giving the installation a tidy, integrated appearance.
The solar array sits alongside the property’s stonework, timber cladding and neighbouring roof sections. Scaffolding provided access during installation.

How solar and storage work together
From daylight to the evening.
Produce electricity from daylight.
The solar panels generate electricity during daylight hours. Output varies with available sunlight, season and conditions at the property.
Keep surplus energy for later.
When generation exceeds immediate demand, the battery can store surplus electricity, subject to its available capacity and system settings.
Use stored energy when needed.
The battery can supply stored electricity when solar generation is lower, reducing the need to buy electricity from the grid at those times.
The financial benefit depends on generation, electricity use, tariffs and how the system is operated.
