Help with the upfront investment
What could you receive?
BUS contributes towards eligible installation costs. It does not automatically cover the whole project.
Air-to-water or ground source
Support towards an eligible heat pump installation.
Replacing oil or LPG heating
Includes a £1,500 uplift for eligible properties with no mains gas connection, available until 31 March 2027.
Other scheme categories include £5,000 for eligible biomass boilers and £2,500 for air-to-air heat pumps. These have their own requirements.

Could you be eligible?
The scheme covers England and Wales. You must own the property and usually be replacing an existing fossil-fuel or electric heating system.
Social housing and properties already given government support for a heat pump or biomass boiler are generally excluded. System suitability and scheme requirements must also be met.

Does this pay for a new gas boiler?
No. The scheme supports eligible low-carbon heating systems, rather than a replacement gas or oil boiler. Our team can help you explore an air source heat pump.
Is the grant paid to me?
Your installer applies on your behalf. The approved grant is deducted from your installation price and shown on your quotation and invoice.
Can landlords apply?
Property owners can apply, including landlords, subject to the scheme’s property and installation requirements.
Can I use it alongside insulation funding?
Previous insulation funding does not automatically rule you out. Tell us about any existing or previous grants so we can check the rules for your property.
What about new builds and self-builds?
Most new builds are excluded, but qualifying self-builds and some completed new builds with fossil-fuel heating may be eligible. We’ll check the circumstances before advising.
Will a heat pump suit my home?
A survey considers heat loss, radiators, hot water requirements, outdoor space and your current system. We’ll explain any changes needed and provide a tailored proposal.
